Four-Time National Champion Ashritha Eswaran started playing chess at the age of 7 with her parents. With the guidance of Coach Ted Castro and Coach GM Dejan Bojkov, Ashritha soon won the All Girls Chess Championship U12 in 2012. One year later, she won the national championship again in the All Girls Chess Championship U14. She went on to become the national champion of the Online Invitational Tournament from Chesskid.com in June of 2013. In 2015 she won the US. Junior Girls Championship in Tulsa, OK and in that same month won Bronze at the Pan-Am Youth in Cali, Colombia. Her streak continued as she then went on to win Gold at the Pan-American Junior Championship in El Salvador in July 2015. Ashritha and her team XcellCHESS won the US Amateur Team West Championship in Santa Clara, CA in February 2017. Most recently, Ashritha finished 4th at the US Women’s championship , St Louis, MO in October 2021 and first place at the American Open, Los Angeles in November 2021.

Among her impressive list of accomplishments, Ashritha competed in the Pan-Am Youth Championships three times (2012, 2013, 2015), the World Youth four times (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), the U.S. Women’s Chess Championship five times (2014,2016,2019,2020,2021), and the U.S. Junior Girls’ Championship twice (2015,2017).

Ashritha’s hobbies include art, Carnatic singing, and swimming. She also enjoys helping other chess players. This past summer she held a chess camp in which proceeds went to charity at XcellCHESS Club in Santa Clara.
